1 out of 5 stars don't bother   March 18, 2008

1)alarm is not very loud (so forget about using it as a panic device), 2)often did not pick up signal from transmitter (had to be close to vehicle) so forget using it to locate your car, and 3)design seems dangerous - leads get clamped to car battery but there is nothing keeping the clamps from coming off, causing a short, or worse a fire - yikes!

5 out of 5 stars Good Alarm for The Money   October 10, 2007

I like this alarm. I bought it for economic reasons. It works good, not as loud as more expensive alarms; I live in an apartment complex, and at night, when it is most needed, it is very loud. So far there's been a few false alarms, but who cares? It was only $30. Plus, I think someone was using a radio or something. The amazing thing, is that this alarm was very easy to install, I added it to my van in 5 minutes; hook up the red and black wires and attach it to the battery or side of the car (under the hood). If someone would open the door, or try to break in, it would go off, and probably scare away the average thief. However, it does have to work in combination with a fake alarm light (you can get them on ebay), and also another anti-theft deterrent, such as The Club. As long as you have ALL THREE working together, I would say that this inexpensive 802 Bulldog alarm is a great buy. Like I said, though, it's good for economy and just acting as a theft deterrent, nothing fancy. Bottom line: mine works and would probably frighten away a car thief (but also because I have a fake alarm light and The Club too...). I would recommend this alarm if you are strapped for money and you are parked at night where you need some extra protection for your vehicle... highly recommended for that reason. Only bad part is you probably might want an extra remote, so don't lose the one that comes with it.

1 out of 5 stars Killed my battery   April 27, 2007

Woke up to find this alarm had completely drained my battery. Apparently this alarm goes off at the slightest vibration & keeps going until it's sucks the life out of the car's battery. Pretty useless item anyways, not even loud enough to hear when indoors, so what's the point?! Thanks for the additional headache & time waste of having to call for a jump start.
